Loreline Writer is a downloadable text editor to write interactive fiction, game dialogues or anything in between using the open-source language Loreline.

Friendly to writers and developers

This editor and the language are easy to use and aimed at both writers who are not developers, and game developers looking for a comprehensive narrative system they can integrate with their game engine of choice.

• For writers: All they need is to read Loreline's Writer's Guide and start writing using the Loreline Writer app on their computer. The language is designed to be accessible, easy to write and read without any prior programming skills.

• For developers: Easy to pick up, yet powerful and versatile enough so that it can fit in many different contexts: developers can use it to create full narrative games, visual novels, game cutscenes, textual interactive fictions, or any kind of game with narrative dialogues in their game engine of choice.

About Loreline

Loreline is an open-source scripting language for writing interactive fiction I've been working on since 2024. You can read more about it on loreline.app, or checkout the Github repository.

Files written in the Loreline language are very portable. They can be integrated within any project using C# (including Unity), Javascript, Typescript, Java, Python, Lua, C++, GDScript (Godot) or Haxe. Take a look at the Loreline documentation and the integration guides for more information.

Loreline Writer is an editor complementary to the language, making it easy to work with Loreline files. More is planned in the future, you can know more about the roadmap here.
